Plum Crumble Gets a Gourmet Glow-Up
There’s something deeply comforting about a warm fruit crumble—the golden, buttery topping, the bubbling fruit underneath, and that first spoonful melting into a scoop of ice cream. But what if we told you your next crumble could be restaurant quality, with just one small twist?
Say hello to the ultimate Plum Crumble, featuring our roasted plums with Pomodoras Orange Vincotto Balsamic Dressing. This dish takes everything you love about traditional crumble and elevates it into a dessert that wouldn’t be out of place on a fine-dining menu.
By first roasting the plums with our citrusy, caramelised Orange Vincotto Dressing, you develop intense, jammy flavours and a glossy glaze that becomes the luxurious base for your crumble. Add a crisp, golden topping and a scoop of ice cream… and you’ve just made a five-star dessert with humble ingredients.
Why This Plum Crumble is So Special
✅ Uses peak-season Australian stone fruit
✅ Pomodoras Orange Vincotto adds gourmet depth
✅ Perfect balance of sweet, tart, and buttery
✅ Easy enough for home cooks, impressive enough for guests
✅ Naturally vegetarian, with gluten-free options
The Secret’s in the Roasting
Most fruit crumbles toss raw fruit with sugar and bake it all in one go—but here’s the twist: by roasting your plums first with Orange Vincotto, you caramelise the fruit and intensify the flavours. The result? A rich, slightly tangy, citrus-infused plum base that tastes like it’s been simmered for hours.
Pomodoras Orange Vincotto Balsamic Dressing adds a complexity you just can’t get from sugar alone. It brings notes of slow-cooked citrus peel, aged vinegar, and gentle sweetness that perfectly complements the natural tartness of plums.
A Crumble for Every Occasion
This dessert is as flexible as it is delicious. Serve it hot from the oven with:
- Vanilla bean ice cream
- Mascarpone or whipped cream
- Greek yoghurt for a slightly healthier twist
- Or even custard if you’re going for full comfort food vibes
It’s perfect for:
- Sunday roast dinners
- Casual entertaining
- Picnic desserts (just warm and pack!)
- Even breakfast—yes, really! Paired with yoghurt, it’s just fruit and oats with flair.
What Makes It Restaurant-Quality?
It’s not about complicated techniques or fancy ingredients. What sets this dessert apart is flavour layering. By starting with Pomodoras’ high-quality Orange Vincotto and roasting the fruit first, you’re doing what chefs do in professional kitchens—building depth and balance in every bite.
The crumble topping stays beautifully crisp, the plums are glossy and luscious, and the citrus-balsamic notes add a surprising (but addictive) finish.
This isn’t just a nostalgic dessert—it’s a grown-up version, made for sharing, showing off, or simply indulging yourself.
Pomodoras Orange Vincotto: Not Just for Salads
While many customers fall in love with our Orange Vincotto Balsamic as a dressing for roasted vegetables or gourmet salads, it’s also a secret weapon in the dessert world. It pairs beautifully with:
- Stone fruit (plums, peaches, nectarines)
- Strawberries and citrus
- Roasted pears or figs
- Even over panna cotta or baked ricotta
Once you’ve tried it in this plum crumble, you’ll never look at your balsamic dressing the same way again.
Celebrate Stone Fruit Season
This is the time of year to make the most of plums—ripe, juicy, and bursting with flavour. Plum crumble is the perfect way to hero this fruit, especially when it’s slightly overripe or too soft for fresh eating.
So next time you’re at the markets or your local fruit shop, grab a basket of plums and a bottle of Pomodoras Orange Vincotto Balsamic Dressing, and make this dessert your new go-to.
